What's new in Benchwork

New features, improvements and fixes, release by release.

Fixed-price contracts and team invoicing

New

  • Fixed-price contracts. A contract paid on completion or on a custom pay period can be billed by an agreed amount instead of hours. The invoice wizard bills that amount as one line you can split into milestones, and your team's hours are still tracked against the project.
  • Team members can invoice. Members bill their own submitted hours to the workspace, sent as themselves, and see only their own invoices.
  • Choose which emails you get. Settings > Notifications now has a checkbox for each kind of email: bookings, invoice payments, signed agreements, projects and accounts, and declined recordings, beside the digests. Each of these emails also has its own unsubscribe link.

Improved

  • Invoices show the project's account under the project, so an invoice billed to a subsidiary still names the client you work with.
  • The contract form puts the agreed amount right under the pay period that offers it.

Fixed

  • Guests are asked for recording consent once per meeting series, not before every occurrence or once per teammate recording it. Their answer covers the whole series.

Documents and e-signatures

New

  • Documents. Every contact, account, deal and project has a Documents tab for contracts, proposals and other files. The new Documents page under Records lists everything you can see, with the record and project each file is on, and an account's tab includes its projects' files.
  • E-signatures. Send any PDF for signature: place a signature box for each signer, and they sign in their browser with no account. The signed copy comes back to the record, with an audit log of who signed, when and from where.

Improved

  • A cleaner look for every email Benchwork sends, readable in light and dark mode.
  • Card attachments are now private. They open only for people who can see the card, or through the card's share link.

Fixed

  • A mistyped share link now shows "not found" instead of an error.

An invoice wizard, and email from chat

New

  • Invoice wizard. Build an invoice step by step with the real invoice previewed beside you. Choose whether it comes from you or your team, and pull in each project's submitted time by pay period.
  • Email from chat. Chat drafts emails you can review and send from your Gmail, to several people at once and with CC. Sent emails are logged on the contact.
  • Recording consent at a glance. See each guest's answer in the meetings list, on Home and on the meeting page.
  • Upcoming recordings. Settings lists the calls your notetaker is set to join.
  • Chat finds things in other workspaces. When a task or record you ask about lives in another workspace, chat points you to it.

Improved

  • An invoice opens as the invoice itself, an A4 page beside its details and actions.
  • All recording permissions now live in one place in Settings.
  • Longer meetings can start on any half hour, so a 60-minute booking can start at 12:30.
  • Chat can move tasks to any project you can see.
  • Profile photos save as soon as you choose them.
  • Shared links (invoices, cards, recordings) show a title and preview image when you paste them.
  • A new homepage.

Fixed

  • Bookings from links without a service plan now get a Google Meet link.
  • Signing in works however you capitalize your email.
  • Turning off auto-record or disconnecting your calendar now clears its scheduled recordings.
  • Profiles with only mentoring plans no longer show an empty "More options" heading.

Chat beside every page, and a help center

New

  • Chat everywhere. Open chat beside any page with the Chat button or ⌘J. It knows which record you're looking at, can open pages for you, and you can undo the changes it makes.
  • Pages beside chat. On the chat page, Shift-click any link to open it in a tab next to the conversation. Split tiles, float them as windows, and drag them to any edge.
  • Help center. Step-by-step articles for every part of the workspace, searchable from ⌘K. Chat answers how-to questions from the same articles.
  • Email logging. BCC or forward emails to log them against your contacts.
  • Calendar in Meetings. Your Google Calendar events now show in the meetings calendar, and a scheduled recording is dropped when its event is deleted.
  • Recording consent. Guests can approve or decline a meeting recording from an email before the call.
  • Plans and billing. A public pricing page, and you can upgrade, change or cancel your plan yourself.
  • Repeating tasks. Set a task to come back on a schedule, and assign it to several teammates.

Improved

  • Settings, including plans and billing, now open in a window over the page you're on.
  • Move cards between projects from the right-click menu, and paste screenshots straight onto cards.
  • Free bookings are confirmed with the same steps as paid ones.
  • Create a contact straight from a task card, and add CC recipients to email drafts.
  • Meetings and calls are one tab.
  • New sign-in and sign-up pages, and a consistency pass over every screen.

Fixed

  • Booking times now show in the booker's own time zone.
  • Cancelled bookings no longer appear on the meetings page.

Records, reports and invoicing

Everything about a client in one place, and a way to get paid for it.

  • Record pages. Contacts, accounts and deals each get a full page with details, activity, notes, meetings and tasks.
  • Reports. Build a dashboard of hours, money and progress.
  • Invoicing. Timesheets, invoices and payments, with pay periods and contract terms per project.
  • Access control. Private projects and accounts, view or edit access, and guests who only see what they're added to.
  • Enrichment. Add people from meetings as contacts with their details filled in, or look them up with Apollo.
  • Connect an AI assistant. Use Benchwork from Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants.

Meeting recordings

Every booked meeting can now be recorded, transcribed and turned into work.

  • Recordings. A notetaker joins your meetings, with transcripts, AI summaries and chapters.
  • Recording player. Theater mode, full screen, captions and keyboard controls.
  • Notes to tasks. Turn anything in a summary into a task.
  • Meetings calendar. Your meetings on a calendar, linked to the people and deals involved.
  • Self-serve bookings. Clients can reschedule or cancel a booking themselves.

Meet chat

Ask Benchwork about your work in plain language, and let it do the busywork.

  • Chat. Creates and updates tasks, deals and contacts, and you approve every change before it happens. It drafts emails in Gmail and reads Google Docs.
  • Daily focus. A morning briefing of what needs your attention.
  • Command palette. Press ⌘K to search and jump anywhere.
  • Boards, rebuilt. Drag and drop, renamable columns, subtasks, attachments, comments and activity on every card.
  • Light mode. Choose light, dark or match your system.

Pipeline, booking links and teams

The workspace grows into a CRM, built for teams.

  • Pipeline. Leads, deals and contacts, each as a table and a board, with statuses you define.
  • Booking links. Shareable links with custom questions, co-hosts and guests.
  • Teams. Invite teammates and guests, assign cards and choose who works on each project. Boards update live for everyone.
  • Calendar into tasks. Pull in calendar events and meetings, and import contacts from Google.
  • A new layout. A sidebar, a top bar and a side panel for today's time and meetings.

The consultant workspace

Benchwork becomes somewhere consultants run their work, not just get booked.

  • Workspace. One home for your projects, accounts and leads, with a task board for each.
  • Time tracking. Timers on any task, a weekly view by the hour or on a calendar, a heatmap of the days you worked, and downloadable hours.
  • Shared projects. Work on projects and accounts with other consultants.
  • Weekly synopsis. A generated summary of what happened this week.

The expert marketplace launches

Benchwork opens as a marketplace for revenue operations experts.

  • Browse experts. Profiles, specialties and service plans for every consultant.
  • Book a session. Pick a time from a consultant's real availability, in your own time zone, and get a meeting link.
  • Join as a consultant. Apply, then manage your profile, service plans and weekly hours.
